Black Mamba Rotary VW Bug Hauls The Mail! 8.57 @ 154MPH

While it isn’t the most popular format for going fast, the Volkswagen Beetle does have a little drag racing history in his long and storied past.

One “Bug” that laid down some impressive numbers in The Black Mamba, a turbocharged Beetle that needed every inch of those long wheelie bars to keep the nose down while it blasted off an 8.57 at 154 MPH through the quarter mile. The moment that the driver sets the transbrake and goes onto the two-step, the rotary powerplant powering the Black Mamba goes into “fully pissed” mode, popping and spitting fireballs out of the exhaust until the green light drops.

On the top end following the run, the wheelman is blown away by the performance when his crew tells him what it ran. This is one bad bug for sure!
