Compound Turbo Cummins Diesel 1949 Ford F1 Puts Down Big Numbers on the Dyno

At first glance, this looks like any run of the mill F100 build-in-progress, most likely powered by either the factory flathead or swapped with a latemodel powertrain of some kind.

What you probably wouldn’t assume is that it has a wicked compound turbocharged diesel crammed between the fenders that cranks out nearly 1,000 horsepower to the wheels. But it does, and that only makes this pickup even cooler! The truck, which will be used for land speed racing, autocrossing and even some drifting when it’s complete is powered by a Cummins diesel that put down 981 horsepower on this pull, and thanks to a recent sponsorship from Garrett turbos, will be getting upgraded compressors that should allow it to make much more power soon.

With a goal of 1,400 “comfortable” horsepower, and wicked slammed stance and those tucked wheels that radically contrast the body itself, this build is an exercise in contradictions, and we freakin’ LOVE it!
