Danica Patrick And GoDaddy Are Getting Back Together for ‘Danica Double’

As the 2017 NASCAR season drew to a close, Stewart-Haas Racing and longtime fan favorite Danica Patrick were parting ways at the end of the year. Shortly after, Patrick announced that she was going to step away from driving duties altogether after being unable to procure sponsorship or land a ride with another team. However, the former Indy Car driver did say on her way out, she wanted to take one more shot at the two biggest events in all racing: NASCAR’s Daytona 500 and IndyCar’s Indianapolis 500.

While details were scarce at the time, likely because they were still in the negation stage when the announcement was made, Patrick seemed to be confident funding would be secured, as would a ride for both races. Well we now know at least part of the equation will have Danica wearing some familiar colors, as in GoDaddy green. If you were even alive a few years ago when Danica first made the jump from IndyCar to NASCAR, you saw the commercials she did for the domain hosting company, even if you’ve never watched a NASCAR race in your life. The ads were insanely popular, especially the ones that were released during that Super Football Bowl Game who’s name we aren’t allowed to use.

Seeing Danica back in GoDaddy colors for her last two races is perfectly fitting, as they were the sponsor that helped her build herself into a brand has she helped them grow their presence at the same time. I had hoped the interview – which is cut inexplicably short – would dive into who she will be driving for, but perhaps that news will be revealed soon. Patrick, who is the only woman to ever win an IndyCar race as well as the only female driver to take the poll at the Daytona 500 was never really known for being the best driver, instead gaining popularity for her gritty, “take-no-shit” attitude that won her favor among fans from both sides of the gender line. Hopefully she can make a splash in these last 2 races on her way toward whatever her future holds.
