Dodge Unveils New Challenger R/T Scat Pack 1320 with Leah Pritchett

Unless you’ve literally been living in outer space for the past few years, you’ve noticed that Dodge has really laser-focused on rejuvenating their reputation as the domestic performance leader the automaker enjoyed back in the 60’s and 70’s. Starting with the reintroduction of the venerable HEMI powerplant and culminating – at least to this point – with the record-smashing Demon, Dodge has infused their lineup from top to bottom with a huge dose of horsepower.

Today, they announced yet another addition to the Challenger lineup that’s focused on quarter mile performance.

The Challenger R/T Scat Pack 1320 Edition is a drag-strip oriented capable of laying down quarter mile times in the 11.7 range right off the showroom floor. Many of you are seeing that number and scratching your head, knowing Dodge’s other quarter mile-tuned car was a full two seconds quicker through the traps. Keep reading and it will all make sense, I promise.

What you’re looking at is a naturally aspirated Challenger built with several features from the max-effort Demon, combining the active damping “Drag Mode” suspension, line lock, trans brake and Torque Reserve from the Demon in a car that can be bought for just a bit $40,000. So comparatively speaking, you have a solid baseline car already built with a focus on quarter mile performance at roughly half the price of the limited-edition Demon, leaving owners with a stack of cash to push the car’s horsepower levels higher and quarter mile times lower.

The Challenger R/T Scat Pack 1320 comes from the factory with the aforementioned HEMI cranking out a respectable 485 horsepower, the features carried over from the Demon, and 20 inch drag radials to help keep the power planted on the drag strip. Like the Demon, the car comes with only a single drivers seat in the cockpit, with the passenger and rear seats being offered as $1 options when ordering. The 11.7 quarter mile puts the 1320 Edition Challenger atop the list of naturally aspirated cars when it comes to on-track performance.
