If you’re one of those people who prefers two wheels over four, there are certainly a lot of obstacles out there on the roadway that are unique to your situation that people in cars and trucks don’t have to look out for. While there is a pretty substantial movement leaning toward biker safety that urges folks to keep an eye out for riders, there’s still very high potential that somebody simply won’t see you coming and end up coming into contact with you should you decide to ride a motorcycle. When that happens, there’s really nothing standing between you and that cold, hard ground.

In this one, we check out a situation that could be entirely legal as lane splitting is generally something that’s allowed in most areas. However, if you do decide to take on lane splitting, you are still putting yourself in danger whether it’s legal or not. As drivers might not exactly be able to see you coming or fail to check their mirrors, you never know what could happen as you make your way in between lanes and put your own personal safety in the hands of the other drivers around you on a level like never before.

If you follow along in the video below, you’ll get a little snippet of helmet camera footage when this rider rolls in between lanes, trying to get to his destination just a little bit faster, when all of a sudden, a vehicle in front of him ends up changing direction and taking him out when he slides across the ground.

Luckily, it doesn’t look like injury was sustained as the accident was at rather low speed, however, you really never know what’s going to happen out there so we would urge riders to think twice before making a maneuver like this and drivers to check a couple of times just to make sure that none of our two-wheeled friends are out there and exposed.
