This Might Be The Most American Thing You Have Seen All Day

There are some things that are just automatically associated with America: baseball, apple pie, and powered wakeboard grilling.

I’m sure you’re asking yourself what that last one is all about, and luckily I’m here to help you understand, complete with a little video footage to help drive the point home, hopefully. But before we dive into this, I’m going to throw a disclaimer on here that I actually made up the term “powered wakeboard grilling”. I’m sure there’s a more accurate – and hopefully cooler – name for this guy’s lake ride, but I haven’t seen these on Wall Mart shelves so I literally have no idea what to call it other than what it looks like to me.

Now that we got that out of the way, let’s take a closer look at this most American of pastimes. Hair blowing in the brisk wind from his jaunt across the lake, our pilot and cook has a lot to keep track of. With the stars and stripes flying proudly off the stern, our patriot pulls the lid off his grille and lets the smoke roll to make sure the hot dogs and burgers are cooking up nicely so they’re ready to serve as soon as he hits dry ground.

Of course I did notice he laid the lid in his lap, which is a bit of a red flag considering a lid from a grille that’s actually being used to cook would burn pretty badly if laid in one’s lap on top of nothing more than swimming trunks or bare skin. There’s also zero indication of the almost certain cloud of hot embers that would hit our rider in the face if he opened an actual hot grill while running at this speed.

So that begs the question: what’s up with the grill? I have to assume it’s dry ice, but I can’t say for sure exactly what’s going on under the lid, but it sure does calm down when the lid is replaced, another indicator that there’s something amiss.

Real smoke or not, though, this is certainly way cool, and we salute this guy for his dedication and patriotism, as well as his innovativeness in putting this thing together.

Yep
