Top Fuel Car EXPLODES, and Almost Takes People out with Flying Parts

Those who compete in NHRA Top Fuel racing have machines that are built to blast. As we have seen, these cars are able to accomplish some truly astonishing things out there on the race track but, as with anything that you push that hard, even if it is designed to take the beating, sometimes, things just get pushed past their limits and are forced to let go in some capacity. That’s exactly what we see here as Shawn Langdon and Terry Haddock go toe to toe in a qualifying session where things got incredibly hot, literally!

While Haddock seemed to stumble off of the line, giving what appeared to be an easy and clean victory to Langdon, it all looked to be smooth sailing from there on out, but while under a full load, we watch as Langdon’s machine completely erupted, throwing the blower off of the top of the engine and sending parts scattering down the race track. We all have the urge to get close to the action but every once in a while, things like this happen that make you think twice about exactly how close you really want to be!

Check out the video below that takes you to the Top Fuel qualifying session that had the Global Electronic Technology machine going up in flames! It’s not every day that you see something like this unfolding out there on the track and when you do, it’s something that you need to keep an eye on because it generally happens FAST! Luckily, all drivers were able to walk away injury free and with the speeds that these teams work at, it wouldn’t be too long before they had this thing apart and back together again! You never wish something like this on anybody but when you see it happen, boy is it a rush to watch!
