American Chopper’s Teutul Family Dives Into 1951 Buick Roadmaster!

When it comes to the Teutuls, the family behind all of our favorite antics at the American Chopper brand, they tend to stay in their lane. Building motorcycles is what they do and they’re certainly good at it, throwing all types of different custom twists in the mix. They don’t seem to deviate from this path too often, either. Even though it would seem like the world of cars and motorcycles would intersect in many places, it’s not a crossover that these guys usually make. The two segments do share a lot in common but when digging into both platforms, there are certainly plenty of differences as well.

This time, however, the crew decided they wanted to take on a car. It’s pretty interesting to see their opinions on something that falls outside of their lane. The candidate to get it all done with would be something that had a high sentimental value for the family as they would tackle a 1951 Buick Roadmaster. The car that they would get their hands on would be very similar to the old family car and would be in good shape to get started with.

By following along with the clip below, we’re able to drop in and see exactly how the family is doing these days. Seeing them get their hands on an old school Buick has a similar feeling to some of the craziness and joking that the family has brought to the table in their motorcycle builds. This one might not be as over-the-top as some of the things that they accomplish with two wheels. However, this project has a little bit more of a wholesome family feel to it. That’s not always something that we get out of the Teutuls as they’ve been known to want to tear each other’s hair out from time to time.

A Conversation With the Teutuls: '51 Buick Roadmaster

This season, my father and I work on restoring a 1951 Buick Roadmaster, the same make and model that my great-grandfather had. We're still building bikes; this was just a fun family project that we did on the side.All-new episodes of American Chopper premiere tomorrow (Tuesday, Feb. 12), at 10 p.m. E/P on Discovery.
