Can You JB Weld Your Diff?

When it comes to some performance driving applications, a rear differential can be welded together in order to make sure that both rear wheels are always spinning at the same time with the same amount of speed. No more one wheel peels…

Naturally, as your differential internals are something that normally sit in fluid and certainly are going to be under a lot of heat and stress, you want to make sure that you get yourself a good weld going on or it could spell out disaster. It’s not something that you would really want to mess around with as otherwise, it could really create a lot of work and some broken parts that you’re probably not going to want to deal with either.

However, the guys over at the Life OD YouTube channel seem to make it their job to try things that just seem a little bit sketchy. Therefore, they took it upon themselves to take the bonding material that we all know and love in JB Weld and really put it to the test, trying to “weld” together a differential in a car using this quick bonding adhesive. It’s not something we recommend that anybody try to do, however, for the sake of the experiment, it’s really entertaining to watch and see exactly how this hack job of a repair does.

If you follow along down in the video below, you’ll be able to see exactly how the JB Welded differential handles some abuse. We have to admit that this thing did a lot better than we originally anticipated because we weren’t even sure that with such a concoction, that vehicle here was even going to be able to move in the first place under its own power. To see just how far the JB Weld ends up going, be sure to click play down below and see for yourself.
