Red Bull F1 Team Performs Pit Stop Flying Around in ZERO GRAVITY

For pretty much any Formula 1 pit crew, their job is beyond challenging. Not only do they have to maintain a race car in stressful conditions. They also have to make sure that they do it quickly enough as to not lose field position. Any mistake could really trim down the lead that a driver has. In turn, a driver who is looking to gain on the leader can lose that opportunity altogether.

Formula1.com has informed us that the team we see in this demonstration has conducted Formula 1’s fastest ever pit stop. It all happened at the 2019 Brazilian Grand Prix. During the race, they were able to change Max Verstappen’s tires in the span of 1.82-seconds. For the majority of folks, something like that is difficult to even be able to fathom.

However, for the best in the business, that would only be the beginning. Instead of stopping at a record pace, they would decide to go into a situation that no pit crew has ever been in before. This time, we follow along as they take on a pit stop in zero gravity.

We had to double-check the legitimacy of this one because it really caught us off guard. We have to admit that at it looked like someone had done some CGI to make this magic happen. Upon further research, though, it’s about as real as it gets. This crew is really just that awesome.

Down in the video below, we check out the world’s first pit stop in zero gravity. It all happens at an altitude of 33,000 feet on board an Ilyushin Il-76 MDK cosmonaut training plane. We know that Red Bull is all about extreme marketing. This one takes it to a whole new level, though… literally.

By following along with the video below, you might just be treated to the most insane display you’ve ever seen.
