Residents Say Residential Burnouts & Donuts Are Endangering Children

The concept of the “sideshow” isn’t necessarily all that new. For folks on the east coast, they might not be too familiar with them. However, out west, the sideshow is just another form of showing off one’s automobile. It turns out that it’s incredibly dangerous and might just inhibit traffic as well.

The act includes doing donuts and seeing how much tire smoke a driver can produce in a burnout. Don’t get us wrong, we absolutely love the art of a nice burnout with a couple of twists and turns thrown in the mix. However, doing it in an area where it could endanger other people is downright stupid.

It looks like some drivers in Sacramento might want to think twice about what they’ve been up to. Normally, these sorts of displays happen on the highway. While that’s still very illegal and something that a driver shouldn’t take part in, what sideshow enthusiasts have been doing recently is very much worse. This almost feels like satire, but no, we’re not kidding.

Complaints have been coming in from downtown Sacramento as neighborhoods have been taken over by sideways sliding cars.

That’s right, instead of drifting around on highways, this time, it’s going residential. The local CBS affiliate reports that this is happening near public areas, including parks. I don’t necessarily have to explain why sliding sideways an area that could potentially have children wandering around is a bad idea.

The news report below shows off these boneheaded maneuvers. It even shows one house’s security camera capturing one of these people in the act. When it comes to stupid ideas behind the wheel, there is definitely a spectrum. While we love our fair share of adrenaline, this one probably ranks itself pretty far to the extreme in a bad way.

Maybe trying this out in a more isolated venue wouldn’t be the worst idea.
