Last week, we watched as the guys over at Hennessey Performance broke the internet with their twin-turbo Corvette. It really is kind of groundbreaking. After all, it has only been a couple of weeks since the public has gotten their hands on the C8 Corvette. To think that somebody has already thrown a set of turbos on one and is driving around is pretty darn impressive.
Last time, we saw the car idling away in Hennessey’s shop. This time, we get to actually see it in motion. Long story short here is that after hearing this thing spool to life, we can’t help but fall in love. We get a feeling that, after watching this one, plenty of people are going to be adding a turbocharged C8 to their wishlist.
How is He Tuning it?
As Hennessey himself explains, all of this is being done without even being able to get into the computer. One of the biggest questions is just how long it’s going to take for tuning software to come out for the latest generation of Corvette.
As General Motors seems to want to keep tuners out of the computer, we get a feeling that it might be quite a while before the code is cracked. However, that doesn’t stop Hennessy from rolling around in the turbocharged Vette and even laying into the throttle a little bit. Just imagine when this thing is shored up with a proper tune.
How Much Power Will Stock Components Handle?
In addition, John Hennessey also takes a little bit of time to talk about the new architecture. One thing that we have to remember is that with an all-new layout and design, we’re also going to have to try and find the limits of all of the components of the new platform. For example, people are really wondering just how much horsepower the transmission is going to be able to handle.
By following along with the video below, we get the treat of being able to watch and perhaps more importantly, listen to this twin-turbo monster.
