The Rock and Tyrese Gibson In “Furious” Internet Trolling Battle

If you haven’t heard by now, the Fast and Furious franchise has been thrown into a bit of turmoil with the announcement that Dwayne Johnson has gotten his own spinoff that will delay production on the ninth film in the global-smash franchise. As you’d expect, the other stars of the series have taken sides and spoken their feelings on the news of Johnson’s venture.

Tyrese Gibson, who’s been a part of the F&F Franchise since 2 Fast 2 Furious, is less than pleased with the idea and has been vocal about Johnson pulling focus from the core franchise to focus on his own arc, taking to Instagram to call the former WWE personality-turned-actor out for shoving the rest of the Fast Family out of the spotlight and taking it all for himself. Johnson fired back with a less-than-glowing review of Gibson’s latest album, referring to it repeatedly as “dog shit” before mumbling another profanity as he turned from the camera.

However, Gibson’s hardly ready to turn the other cheek, making a video of himself showing off the entrance of his palatial estate with a trio of his rides, one of which, a wicked looking customized Jeep with a twin turbo setup that he cranks up and throws a few revs before ending the video.

I can’t even lie, this whole situation feels a lot like a publicity stunt to build hype for the franchise itself and Johnson’s spinoff, both of which will almost certainly be successful ventures for all parties involved. It isn’t the first time cast members from the franchise have butted heads, with Johnson and Vin Diesel being famously incompatible during filming of Fate of the Furious, which is why the two are not seen on film together at any point.

Publicity stunt or not, there’s already a lot of hype being built on both sides, so they’ve obviously hit gold as far as getting the audience hyped to see how the situation plays out.
