Videos Seem to Show Riots, Assault on Police at Unofficial H2Oi Car Show

For those unfamiliar with H2Oi,  essentially, the gathering is for folks with lowered cars.

These enthusiasts will gather in Ocean City, Maryland, having a show where common interests meet… allegedly.

Instead of a gathering around cars, it seems as if the show has developed into something else entirely. Let’s just say that the show has quickly gathered a reputation for getting a little bit rowdy. In fact, last year, we wrote a piece about how the show was banned from the city. However, even without an official event, H2Oi fans show up anyway.

Now, we know what you might be thinking. A resort town like Ocean City is probably just being a little bit sensitive, right? Any sort of noise would be something that residents would complain about. Normally, we might think that is the case, but videos from the H2Oi event show us that it’s likely much more than that on the minds of local officials.

We aren’t just talking about a couple of burnouts and maybe some racing. This would still be illegal but we’re sure the city could handle it.

Instead, the younger audience that the event tends to draw can end up being downright obnoxious. Not only is property destroyed but people also end up getting in physical altercations. Many of these altercations seem to be influenced by the environment that seems more like a city-wide frat party instead of a car enthusiast gathering.

This year, it seems as if the event has gotten as rowdy as ever. Not only were all of the previously mentioned characteristics present. It seems as if H2Oi fans took things to a new level. The resulting scene would resemble a car gathering very little. Instead, it looks like an all-out riot as people took to the streets.

One video showed altercations with the police where they attempted to calm down the chaos. When attempting to take one individual into custody, another would hop on top of the arresting officers. The scene was surrounded by a variety of onlookers who were recording and some shouting obscenities at the officers.

These folks are in line at the Public Safety Building in Ocean City to get their impounded vehicles out. So far today as…

There was said to be a ridiculous amount of cars impounded as well. Another post to Facebook showed a line of people waiting at the courthouse in order to get their vehicles released to them. The post claims that there were 190 vehicles impounded on Thursday and Friday alone. We would be left to assume that this was nothing compared to Saturday when the city was likely the busiest.

Time and time again, the event draws harsh criticism from the locals. Ocean City has been getting more and more strict in order to try to counteract the activities of the weekend. However, if this year’s turnout says anything about it, perhaps their measures are taking an adverse effect.
