Way Back Wednesday – BoostedGT VS Turbo LS On The (Closed) Street.

Since he’s been focused on getting his new hotrod lined out, it’s been a while since we’ve seen Chris Hamilton, aka Boosted GT’s infamous yellow New Edge Mustang. However, while it may be out of sight, that car will likely never be out of our mind.

To many, Boosted was a big deal long before he first appeared on Street Outlaws. While he had to keep a somewhat low profile, Boosted built a massive cult following on various street racing forums. Long before most had ever heard of Big Chief or Daddy Dave, Boosted would hit the road in his car, traveling for days to meet up with people who had called him out online. If you know anything at all about Chris you know he was willing to race pretty much anybody on the street and won far more than he lost.

This video is not all that old, bit is from about this time last year, when the orange car was still under construction and Boosted had the Yellow car running really strong. He lined up alongside an LS-swapped turbo Fox Body Mustang and laid down a killer run, proving yet again that he is a force to be reckoned with on the street, especially for a car on small tires.

The yellow car has been retired as far as we know, but I have a feeling we haven’t seen the last of this legendary street car. While Chris works on getting his new car ready to take on all comers, the New Edge is likely getting a breath of fresh air. I have to assume there’s an overhaul in its future with the goal of having a car ready at all times for either the track or the street.

This is exactly the type of race that build Hamilton’s huge following and earned him his “race anything, anywhere” reputation.
