The Sound of the World’s First Twin Turbo C8 Corvette Gives us Chills

Okay, this is officially getting out of hand. The C8 Corvette has been in the hands of customers for about two weeks now. We knew that people would be excited about this release once it got here. After all, the Chevrolet Corvette is really one of the cornerstones of the performance community. Having the platform completely reconfigured was going to create some interesting developments.

However, I don’t think that much of anybody was predicting that it would be extensively modified this quickly. While we don’t have too many details just yet, Hennessey Performance is already teasing a twin-turbo Corvette over on their YouTube channel.

When we first spotted the headline, we almost thought it was going to be clickbait. However, lo and behold, upon meeting with the video, we would find a twin turbocharged C8 as it fired up and moved around the shop.

It looks like Hennessey is well on its way to creating several packages for the new Corvette. Naturally, big shops like these need to be the first to do research and development. They want to be on the cutting edge of modification when C8 owners finally get bored and decide they want more power.

One of the most interesting questions that come to mind is how exactly they’re going to tune this thing. General Motors hasn’t exactly kept it a secret that they plan on trying to block out aftermarket tuning software companies. HP Tuners has been leading the game with cracking the code. However, with the last rendition of Corvette, it took them about a year to gain access to the C7 ZR1’s ECU. We would be inclined to think that it might be a similar timeframe for the C8.

Hagerty reported: “Hennessey responded that it will tune the factory E99 ECU with HP Tuners software when the option becomes available, but that the company is considering other avenues, as well.”

There have also been whispers of GM potentially developing its own tuning software.

We would be left to assume that this is simply the mockup for a package in development. However, the sound is simply to die for. Hearing this thing fire up sends a chill down the spine. We can’t wait to see it rip!

Nothing like the sound of a twin turbo AMERICAN V8 engine!
